HSBC

I’m sitting right now at the Toronto International Airport getting ready to fly home. It’s the third time I’ve flown out of this airport in the last six months. I’m a huge fan of the whole airport–it’s beautifully laid out with high ceilings and natural light lining the way, clean and accurate signs and directing traffic, and a variety of places to sit and wait. Each of the gates (at least the ones I’ve flown in and out of) include a series of advertisements from HSBC.

The ads are incredibly simple in nature, normally just a pair of photographs repeated with the caption flipped between the two and the HSBC tagline: “The more you look at the world, the more you realise…” the line concludes with something like “…what really matters to people”,”…what people really value,” “…how people see things differently.”

I’ve taken quick photos of several of the ads on my iPhone, but it never does it justice. I just love thinking about what is “rubbish” and what is “art” or what is “fun” and what is “scary.”

It comes down to the simple truth that we see things differently. Far too often we make assumptions about those around us without fully acknowledging that they might have a different perspective.

Perhaps this week we can spend just a bit more time looking at the world and seeing what we might “realise”
