Pop the Prediction

Last night I watched the Arizona Cardinals defeat the Green Bay Packers. I have several close friends who are Packers fans, so I’m not going to gloat or jump into a game of “told you so,” because the second half definitely had the game well within the Packers reach. Aaron Rodgers and the Packers offense (other than those first two drives) played incredibly well, and should be commended for an incredible comeback.

Still, I enjoyed the game, particularly because the Fox Pregame Show had everyone but Frank Caliendo picking the Packers for a win. There was a lot of talk about the inconsistencies of the Cardinals play. I’m not going to disagree: the team can be all over the map in terms of play, dominating or fading, but for some reason, they seemed to know how to step up in the post season.

I loved watching them last year, each game beginning with the experts saying how it simply wasn’t possible and placing the prediction always in the other teams favor.

It’s too early to know if the Cardinals will have another amazing run in 2010–the Saints looked unstoppable most of this season–but I love the fact that during next week’s pregame show, the hosts might have to spend one extra moment considering the Cardinals.

Predictions are one thing.

Performance is another.

As we dive deeper into this year, let’s not let a negative prediction dictate our performance.

Many, including me, practically wrote off the Packers heading into halftime, and yet the team came back and almost won.

After the game, I enjoyed watching the hosts on Fox express their shock.

The game was incredible.

It set playoff records.

It defied expectations.

Let’s do the same.
