Okay, this so here is the last week of technology. Depending on where you are at with some of the previous assignments, you’ll either dive into this week, or just bookmark or Evernote this entry for later use.
Assignment #1
Set up an infostripe account.
Infostripe is currently in beta-form, but is a great concept. You basically create a (currently) free account that links up all of your online entities such as facebook, youtube, twitter, blog, etc. It’s then formatted to match up to most major smart phones. More and more, people are engaging through their phones as a primary medium, yet most of our content isn’t formatted well.
Even in beta form, there is a quite a bit of customization.
You can see a sample of my account here.
This could end up being the best way to share information about you or your organization in the near future.
Assignment #2
Download a QR Code Reader for your smart phone.
I wrote a blog about QR Codes several months ago, and I think more users should be prepared to utilize them. Earlier today I had lunch at a brand new restaurant, and their QR code on their door launch a mobile version of their menu. You want to be able to take advantage of this technology. Download the appropriate application.
Assignment #2.5
Download a MS Tag Application for your smart phone.
I have an admitted bias for the QR Code, but MS Tag is still getting a great deal of traction. USA Today utilizes throughout it’s daily paper. While you may pick only one version to use in generating content, you want to make sure you can read the available content. Find an application for your smart phone and download it.
Assignment #3
Generate a QR Code and/or MS Tag.
Play around with this technology. There are a number of ways you can use it. Right now, I like to have a QR Code direct people to my infostripe page. You could have it generate a text message as a clue for a scavenger hunt, an email address, a website, etc. Find a way to use this technology in your organization in the coming year.
There are several free resources online that allow you the chance to do this. Simply search QR Code or MS Tag generator and try it out.
