I’ve been on the road for most of the past two months, coming home for only a day or two here and there. For the past few weeks, it’s been less than forty hours at a time, often times with a lunch meeting in town, limiting my need to buy groceries. This weekend, however, I’ll be spending over 72 hours back home. Unfortunately, I flew in too late last night to buy new groceries. My breakfast this morning was limited to some oatmeal I still had in the cupboard and one of the energy bars I bring on my trips.
After heading to the gym this morning for a session with my trainer, I wait straight to the grocery store, purchasing enough food for the weekend including an abundance of fresh fruit. I love being able to cook my own food at home and to be able to easily grab an apple or something when it is time to snack.
As I enjoyed a little fruit salad this afternoon, I thought about the grocery list I created this morning.
There were the essentials: eggs, bread, cooking spray, fruit, etc.
There were the enhancements: better fruit (i.e. cantaloupe), cooking spray, fresh orange juice, etc.
and there were the avoids: ice cream, frozen pizza, donuts, etc.
I wonder if we could take a few moments and do that with our own groups.
What are the essential things we need in our organization? What are a few things that could really enhance it? What are the things we really should be avoiding at this point?
Just some “food” for thought.
Have a great weekend.
