Super Bowl Power Outage

So you saw it too, right?

34 minutes of a blackout.

Yep. 34 minutes.

As every sports story mentioned today, it looked as if it was (almost) exactly what the 49ers needed. As a childhood fan, it was exciting to see them almost come back from the brink like they had done so many times during the Montana days, but not this time.

It was also interesting to watch the players simply pause, stretch, and walk around casually on the field during the Super Bowl.

So what does this mean for us?

While the 49ers ultimately still fell short, I’m wondering if we all need a similar power outage in our own lives. No, I don’t want us to sit around for 34 minutes, but I’m wondering if we should stop, recognize our struggle, stretch, refocus and play this game of life the way we were destined to play it.

As I’ve mentioned in some post recently, I’ve been a bit more sluggish than I’ve wanted to be this far into the year. My diet, exercise, and sleeping habits needed a wakeup call. I just got back from a training session at the gym and my trainer said that he sees me finally turning a corner.

In all honesty, I think I had my own Super Bowl Power Outage a bit ago and realized that I needed to turn a corner. I had some time on my own to reflect and adjust my course.

Can you do the same?

We’re one month into 2013. What’s working? What isn’t? What can you do differently?

Seriously, pause. Take a moment. Take 34 of of them and adjust your course accordingly.

Game on!
