So I’m spending the next two weeks in Kansas, speaking to a student council leaders all over the state. It’s going to be fun.
Tonight I was lucky enough to have fellow speaker, Bob Tryanski, drive in for a dinner visit. I had heard Bob’s name for years when I first started speaking, and we finally met in person in late 2010. Since then, we’ve called each other up a few times and visited at other conferences. I really like Bob, how he approached our profession and, more importantly, how he approaches life.
So we’re sitting in a nearby Texas Roadhouse having one of those dinners. Our plates were cleaned away long ago, and we’re still chatting as our waitress visits our table to refill our waters. We’re sharing some of those “crazy” ideas that could be realities with just a bit more time. We’re talking books and resources. We’re sharing frustrations and describing our own attempts and solutions.
And I’m loving every second of it.
Bob is a speaker who challenges me. Tonight he had me thinking…
“What’s next?”
Have you had one of these types of dinners or coffee visits with a friend or mentor recently? Have you been challenged to raise the bar in your life? Have you done the same for a friend?
The more I live this deal called life the more I realized we need to live life quite often as a “team sport.” Yes, we take our own “at bats,” but in the end we’re playing on the same team. Take some time in the next week and visit with a close friend or mentor and find some ways you can help one another the next time it is your turn to stand at the plate.
